Last week we (New York City) had a “snow day.” Schools were closed, and so, not one to comply with the norm, I was open for business.
Ten children showed up: two from previous years (a brother and a sister); two big brothers and one sister of current playgroup attendees; and five of the kids that currently attend. Did I miss anyone?
It was a beautiful morning!
There was that lovely hum of kids engrossed in what they are doing, as well as kids that were figuring out how to fill the time (mostly the older siblings). No fighting. No confrontations. No confusion. Just children engaged in the moment – with a little input from the adult in the room.
